Resolve to Take Care of Your Dental Health

When it's time for New Year’s resolutions, many people resolve to be healthy. Well what about committing to your dental health? Dental health is directly related to your physical health and well being. Oral Health (teeth, gums and mouth) has a Direct Relationship to Your Overall Health

Taking care of your teeth and gums, allows your body to keep the naturally occurring bacteria in your mouth under control. However, oral infections like tooth decay and gum disease can be caused by harmful bacteria in your mouth when your dental health is neglected. This bacteria can enter your bloodstream.

Gum Disease or Periodontal Disease does not just affect your teeth. A correlation has been shown between oral diseases and conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and pre-term labor. There is no cure for periodontal disease, but Dream Smile Dental can help you maintain your current condition and provide therapy to help it from getting worse.

Resolve to maintain your dental health, contact Dream Smile Dental to jump start your health in the New Year.

There are many people who are in need of dental health appointments w ho have a fear or phobia of the dentist’s office. Because of their fear, they have neglected their oral health.

Oral health is directly related to other health issues, and poor oral health can exacerbate existing health issues. For those people who suffer from fear or phobia of the dentist, sedation dentistry may be a viable option.

Use or Lose Your 2010 Dental Insurance Coverage By Year's End

We want to give you all a friendly reminder that the end of the year is coming up fast. We are amazed at how many people fail to utilize the maximum benefit offered by their dental insurance plans.  This oversight can be VERY costly.

Make sure that you all check your dental insurance policies or call us and we'll be glad to do it for you. There are only 4 months left this year so at a minimum, be sure you (and every family member) executes any remaining preventative treatment coverage.  Many policies cover check-ups and cleanings twice a year so you are well advised to execute those services as close to the six-month point as is possible.

Think about it. Say your insurance allows six-month exam and cleanings.  Let's forget (just for a second) about exactly what our skilled Dentists do on an exam.  Say you put off your six-month cleanings and go every eight months.  In 24-months, you've elected to only have three exams/cleaning when you could have had four exams/cleanings at no extra cost.

About the "exam" part.  A dental problem tends to worsen with time if left untreated. In most cases, the more time that a dental issue goes untreated, the more complex the damage and more costly the treatment. Dental exams are need to identify any potential problems. For those of you who smoke or have a family history of cancer, our Dentists are trained to perform Oral Cancer Screenings and spot even the smallest and earliest signs of oral cancer.  Of course oral cancer does not spare anyone, any gender, young, or old.  That is reason enough to stay on the most frequent exam schedule possible.

Again, your 2010 benefits do not carry over on January 1st.  Contact us today to schedule your next checkup before time runs out!
