A recent article in the Boston Herald talks about the progressive growth of oral hygiene in Russia. As Russians who are very much in touch with the Russian dental industry, Drs. Ronkin and Shwartzman couldn’t agree more. Patient education is growing and thanks to doctors like Ronkin and Shwartzman, Russian dentists are able to get literature and education in order to provide the necessary standard of care and educate their patients on oral hygiene.
Dr. Ronkin and Dr. Shwartzman have been bringing new dental technology to the Russian dental industry for a while. Dr. Ronkin has been a guest lecturer on the theme of whitening in Russia since 1995 at various expos and dental conferences. His published book on whitening has sold over 10,000 copies and continues to be the guide tool for Russian dentists working with whitening. The book is also used in various Russian Dental Institutes that cover the topic of whitening in their curriculum.
Additionally, Dental Kaleidoscope, a professional dental magazine published by Dr. Ronkin, Dr. Shwartzman, Dr. Sherman and Dr. Mazo in the Russian language, is another form of literature that Russian dentists benefit from. This online magazine describes the most current methods and technologies used in the dental industry. Having been in publication since 1998, via this magazine, Drs Ronkin and Shwartzman are very proud to have developed a way to help Russian dentists and patients.

Last December, our new facility (Boston Institute of Aesthetic Dentistry/Dental-Spa) opened in a commercial development on one of the main streets in Moscow. The facility includes a high-end dental clinic as well as a high-tech teaching facility. The teaching is done in both a classroom, set with personal monitors, comfortable seats and a personalized teaching environment, as well as fully equipped dental chair stations where doctors are taught on their own patients.
While our institute has been expanding over the past few months, a real interest was expressed during the April Dental Salon Expo at which doctor Ronkin’s short neuromuscular lectures at our booth were packed with dentists holding note pads and tape recorders. Dr. Shwartzman’s dental aesthetics course, Dr. Ronkin’s occlusion course and future business in dentistry courses were all inquired about and listened to with great attention.
The doctors’ involvement in the Russian Dental Industry was inspired by the want to give back to the community they first had their dental experience in. They find themselves lucky to have had the opportunity to come to the U.S. and be able to not only attain a dental degree and practice a higher level of dentistry, but to have broken through to be in the top 2% of dentists in the U.S. that can do what they do. The level of cosmetic dentistry and the aspects of neuromuscular dentistry that they are able to perform are exceptionally rare and difficult. They now see the difference between where they started and where they have grown to, which only motivates them to help their peers get to the level they know can be attained.
